Calgary Hosts 2019 International Arab Women of Excellence Awards  and 1st Arab Women Summit in North America.

   Weekend events promise to change the narrative about Arab women by sharing 50 Stories of women who have achieved amazing success in all walks of life.  

The Canadian Life Transformation Academy is hosting the first Arab Women of Excellence Awards Gala on Saturday June 22, 2019 at the Westin Hotel, 320 4th Avenue SW Calgary) at 5pm. The event will be followed with the 1st Arab Women Summit in North America on Sunday June 23. Also at the Westin, this full-day summit will feature presentations and round -table discussions led by experts and many of the award winners who will address the challenges and opportunities faced by Arab women, youth and seniors living in North America while proposing solutions to build stronger dialogue, inclusion and diversity.

The experts and winners are flying to Calgary from all across Canada, USA, and the Middle East. The sold-out award ceremony will recognize women from across North America in 10 different categories: Art and Media, Academia, Research, Community Service, Politics and Government, Inspiration, Motherhood, Business and Entrepreneurs, Sports and Special Needs, and Youth.

Dignitaries and speakers include Hon. Leela Aheer, Minister of Culture, Multiculturalism & Women’s Status; Ambassador Dr. Moushira Khattab, Renowned UNESCO Humanitarian and Former Minister of Women Status (Egypt); Sheikha Dr. Hind Al Qasimi, member of the UAE Royal Family and Chairwoman BPW (Business Professional World Emirates Club), Rev. Father Angelos Saad (Toronto), and Imam Jamal Hammoud (Calgary).  

Participants at the Summit will delve into topics such as the representation of Arab women in the media, the role of Arab youth in the diaspora, empowerment through civic engagement, creating police legitimacy and trust for newcomers, and the advantages of being a multicultural woman. Dahlia Mostafa, event organizer, says she hopes the event will shine a light on successful Arab women to inspire future generations and convey a clear, strong international message about their abilities and capabilities.

 “This event is about changing the narrative about Arab women – of all religions and backgrounds. How better to do that than by hearing from women who are already living lives full of success,  through determination, perseverance & positive attitudes?  Now more than ever, we need to be sharing messages that inspire inclusion and diversity across all humanity.”

Organizer: Dr. Dahlia Mostafa, Pres. & CEO of the Canadian Life Transformation Academy, is an Egyptian-Canadian public figure known for her achievements in Academia, Research, Community Service, Leadership, Coaching, and Counselling.  She is a Ph.D. Fellow in Leadership, Policy and Change with a Focus in Counselling Psychology.

 In addition to receiving the Sovereign Medal for Volunteers for being a Social Influencer, she was the winner of the 2017 Canadian Immigrants of Distinction Award in Community Service and the 2017 RBC Top 25 Canadian Immigrants Award.  She was named twice in 2018 The Woman of Inspiration across Canada. She travelled the world, succeeded to build bridges across different cultures, embraced humanity and charity and became a voice of change and empowerment for so many around the world.
